We offer a range of learning activities about sustainability, green transition, community action and ecoliteracy. For us, regeneration is the path to sustainability – it is how we practice sustainability. Our teaching and facilitation activities can take place at Himmelbjerggården or wherever your organization is located. We work with children and youth, teachers and educators, community organizers and activists as well as consultants and leaders from across the private and public sectors to inspire and develop regenerative actions and strategies.

Regeneration is all about understanding and working with the patterns of nature that work both outside and within us. We can learn from ecosystems and other species both as individuals and communities. By investigating mycelium or soils we can understand fundamental principles of design and organization. And just by being in nature, and spending more time outdoors, we become a little more attuned to ourselves and our surroundings.

We bring the primary insights and clues from ecoliteracy into play with you or your organization through a range of formats – from workshops and seminars to longer running courses. We take an experiential and sensory approach to learning and we use play, exercises and guided conversation in all of our activities. You can read more about some of the methods and approaches we practice below.

Ecoliteracy and experiential learning in nature

When and where it makes sense, we like to be outdoors. Learning in nature has a range of well-established benefits from improved focus and engagement, to stimulating creativity and imagination, and enhanced connection to place and environment. Therefore, most of our activities are designed to take place outdoors.

The Art of Hosting

The Art of Hosting is an approach to facilitation and space holding that blends a range of powerful methods and practices to create interactive group processes that strengthen the collective ability to work together and address complex challenges.

Permaculture principles and design

Permaculture is an approach to nature based solutions. The EarthWays forest garden at Himmelbjerggården is a 2ha permaculture garden which works as a teaching and demonstration space for permaculture principles and practices. The forest garden was created on a former cut greenery plantation and demonstrates how nature restoration can work in practice.

Work That Reconnects

The Work That Reconnects is a body of work developed and stewarded by Joanna Macy and the Work That Reconnects Network that helps people experience their connection with the whole community of life on Earth. The exercises are dynamic group processes that draw on systems thinking, deep ecology and deep time.

Council of All Beings

The Council of All Beings is a communal ritual workshop, which allows people to step outside of their human identity and speak on behalf of another species. It is a powerful and playful way to experience and speak with the voice of the more-than-human.

The Flow Game

By establishing a supportive frame for exploring aspects of life, work or community that need attention, the Flow Game brings clarity and collective insight to the present or future and creates an action space for groups, teams and individuals.

Audio-visual tour of planet Earth

We have created an audio-visual crash course in global ecology and climate change, which introduces the basic concepts in the earth system and lays the foundation for an understanding of ecology and living systems. This material was created to aid an embodied understanding of climate change the Earth as a living system.

We draw on all of these approaches and methods to create a courses that meet our participants needs – we always tailor an activity to your requirements.
